Light is also needed in the cars for easy and smooth operation by the drivers. - Because of its new move into the market, it very expensive and can only be afforded by high income earners. – LED light are very directional, therefore does many of them are needed to effect a very reasonable utilisation of its illuminations. – The qualities of the colour given out by LED light are not as good regular lighting appliances. – The designs are exclusively one way and therefore do not give rooms for varieties of choices.

Miniature led lights are those available in very small size and are used mostly in hand-held devices like cell phone, Personal Digital Assistants etc. High powered LED lights are generally used at industrial level. These are used in scientific research, engineering works and in mechanical fields, etc. The name is self explanatory that LED are high powered; its performance is enhanced! Application based LED lights are ideal example of customization. Since LED technology can be available in different sizes, shapes and its performance can be moderated; LED is used in multiple sectors. All these LED lights are termed as application based LED.

Miniature LED are smaller in size and generally available in single color and shape. There designing is suitable for use on circuit board and they do not offer heat controlling or any cooling device. High powered lights are generally customized to the industrial or scientific research needs. Flashing LED works as flash bulbs like indicators of vehicles. Bi-color and Three-color LED offers two to three colors of light emitting from single device. These are often used in decoration purpose. You need to direct the lighting based on the supply you provide!

Red-Green-Blue is a coloring scheme that is applied to some LED lighting system and these Red-Green-Blue LED produces light in the Red-Green-Blue scale. Generally Red-Green-Blue stands for Red, Green and Blue. One needs to add four wires to get Red-Green-Blue output from LED light. Alphanumeric LED are much complex in their settings than any other LED light. It would require advanced level of technological understandings. These are on the whole some types of LED lights.

Just how much power can you save by going LED? In a typical travel trailer of say 27 feet with a super slide and a couple of bunk beds, you may have upwards of 20+ 12 watt incandescent bulbs. If you were to have all of these on at one time, you would be drawing around 20 amps of DC power. In a few hours, your single group 24 12-volt battery would be near dead. Even if you had two batteries, you wouldn’t have much left to finish out a 2-day weekend without a battery recharge.

Now if you were to replace every interior incandescent bulb in this fictitious travel trailer with a 24 LED array warm color lamp, each drawing 190 mA, the total power consumption drops to 3.8 amps, over 5 times less power consumption. You wouldn’t likely replace every incandescent bulb with a 24 LED array lamp but you could and if you did, you would be using 5 times less power, even if you had every light switched on.

There are several different routes you can take when doing the LED lighting mod: individual lights, such as a night or reading light, all or some interior lights, interior and exterior, storage compartments, etc. Much will depend on you budget and coolness factor you are trying to achieve. Replacing every incandescent bulb may just break your piggy bank, but doing a few can still help save some battery power.

Using a single LED for a night light, like in the bathroom, can be a real life saver. Well, it may not save your life but if you have to get up at 2am to go, you won’t be blinded by the light and you should be able to go right back to sleep. A single LED connected through a SPST toggle switch mounted on the bathroom light fixture can provide just enough light to do your business.

Perhaps you just want to change a few lights out, like the lights over your bed, that are generally too bright to read by. There are direct replacement LED lamps that require no modification to the lighting fixture, other than swapping bulbs. For this type of LED lamp, use the “warm white” type. The cool white LEDs provide a bluish tint to the light color and may not appeal to your reading tastes. The warm white LEDs provide a yellowish light color very similar to that of a normal incandescent bulb.

If you plan on replacing the main lights inside the RV and have the type of fixtures that contain two bulbs with a switch in the middle, you can replace just one of the bulbs to reduce cost. This way you not only save money, but you also can still provide more light when you need it by switching on the second bulb. For this case, you should consider LEDs that have a wide beam angle, at least 120 degrees. This is the angle at which light is projected from the lamp. The wider the better if you’re trying to light up a large area. These lamps are typically configured in a flat package with many LEDs, as many as 36 in some cases. They simply affix to the fixture with Velcro and plug in just like a standard bulb.

Another cool LED mod is to fit a LED rope light under your RVs countertop. Many upscale RVs have this feature as a standard option but there is no reason you can’t have this classy look either. First, have someone help you test fit the rope for length, ensuring you have enough for the whole countertop. Then get some double-sided tape and stick it to the cabinet or under the countertop where you want the rope to run. If you have any left over rope, drill a hole the size of the rope’s diameter and run the excess through the hole. Just stick the rope to the tape and press firmly. You can also add a switch to control the rope power as well.

A step light is also another easy LED mod that consumes very little power. If you forget to turn it off, you don’t have to worry since it can be on for days and still be easy on your battery. You can use a courtesy light or an amber side marker light. These mount with a couple of screws to the underside of the stairwell. Power can be run to an inconspicuous switch inside. Some even have light sensors so they can automatically turn on when it gets dark and turn off in the morning.

Outside compartments are also a great candidate for LED lights. These can be powered through a pin switch so that when you open the compartment door, the light turns on, and then off when you close the door. The color of the LED light is not so important as is the placement of the light. Compartments are usually rectangular in shape, so try and place the LEDs near the corners of the compartment. This way, you will get the most light to all parts of the storage area.

Finally, upgrading your RVs exterior lighting can make for a very clean look as well as improve safety going to the road. LED porch, marker, clearance, backup, turn, and running lights are all candidates for LED replacement. Fortunately for you, many companies, like Bargman for example, now make direct replacement fixtures that include everything you need to perform the upgrade. Just be sure to budget enough since total exterior lighting replacement can run in to the hundreds of dollars.

Tip: LED brake/tail lamps may not work with some older thermal flasher units found on some vehicles. An LED brake/tail lamp will require an electronic flasher/blinker unit which is commonly available at your local auto parts store. Just ask for the electronic equivalent of your thermal flasher.

Recently I had a conversation with one of the teams, which is poised to win this years contest, although many would agree upon reviewing all these teams that they are all winners, as they bring to the table the future of robotics a frontier, which will be conquered indeed. This team told me that since they were using Off-The-Shelf Technology for their platform vehicle, meaning it was your basic SUV, that they were not sure if it had enough of a gas tank to make the whole trip. In fact since the speeds would be around 20-25 miles per hour over rugged terrain and since the vehicle would be running the modified electrical system full blast, with two alternators, RV style air-conditioning system and computer processors that it would be a gas hog? And you thought you paid a lot for gasoline? In any case this unmanned ground vehicles or UGV would be very inefficient indeed.

I propose that to over come these issues and not just on DARPA Challenge 2005 vehicles but on all off road vehicles that we use the vibrational energy to power up LED headlights. The bumps in the road can power up the headlights using electromagnetic induction technology to charge a capacitor instead of the headlights working off a battery. Currently there are some nifty micro-flashlights being used which you can buy which use a similar technique and are available thanks to the Everlite Flashlight technology research lab. These smaller flashlights work by shaking them for about thirty seconds and shine for about 6 minutes and they shine quite bright since they use a very bright LED light.

If these lights get too dim from too smooth of a road, yah, we wish, then the system would revert back to the battery, but only if and when this occurs. By saving fuel we can extend the range and perhaps these vehicles can go the full 200-mile course on a single tank of gas. Perhaps this is a good way to save fuel and win the 2-million dollar DARPA Grand Challenge Prize Money? Think on this and God’s Speed.

LED bulbs are made from semi semiconductors and it gains more popularity because of its major advantages over a typical tungsten light filament lights. Inventors were able to design a model that could work with car headlamp and it is called Car Led light bulbs.

It has some advantages over a typical incandescent or tungsten light bulb and the advantages are:

·         Its life span is ten times longer than an incandescent light bulb.

·         Because it does not have a filament, they are more durable than a normal incandescent light, therefore last longer.

·         It is very rugged and can always withstand hard condition becuase it does not have a filament that can easily fall off.

·         Car LED light bulbs consume very little energy because it requires less power and can have an average of 10000 watts per hours.

·         A typical car LED light can achieved brightness in a microseconds that a conventional incandescent light.

·         Car LED light bulbs transmission rate can easily be adjusted by using a MODEM.

·         Car LED light will rather grow dim or there is a reduced in the illumination level rather that the filament burning out likes an incandescent bulbs.

·         LED can be designed to direct its light horizontally or focused but incandescent light cannot only be manipulated to focus its light .

·         LED light does  not contain any mercury therefore the issue of toxicity is virtually impossible.

·         It has an improved flexibility in operation, because of its smaller size and it flexibility.

Meanwhile, every invention comes with its own peculiar disadvantages or the other, as result of this Car LED light too has it its own fair share of the demerits:

Because it is a latest invention that is just coming into the market, it is therefore more expensive that the original conventional light bulbs from halogen.

Car LED lights operation depends on its operating environment, therefore, at a very high temperature above the room temperature, the major functional component can be affected.  Therefore, overheating can result to failure in the operation of the devices. These defects can affect the credibility of a device that is supposed to be functioning with accurate precision.

Car LED light require a very high voltage to function and as such it is more of a capacitors and resistors dependents, rather than a simple circuits.

Because of the colorful transmission of its lights, the illuminations so reflected have been observed to be of inferior quality to the original rays of the sun. Therefore the rays of light generated cannot be seen as a perfect reflection of the original.

The blue and white LED lights generated have been observed to constitute a health hazard because of it’s over reflective nature therefore it does not pass the safety standard set by the constituted environmental regulatory body.

Because car LED lights pattern of reflection is constant, therefore it cannot be used where a reflection that is divergence or convergence in nature  is required.

Blue LED light has also been observed to cause more light pollution that any other light generating appliances. Therefore, it should be operated under a very safe condition.
